Johnnie Walker, the top brand under Diageo, organized one of its first virtual roundtables aimed at celebrating and deconstructing the black label.
The virtual experience was directly exclusive to well-meaning media and influencers. The event featured the global brand director, Julie Brandon, and the master blender at Johnnie Walker, Dr. Emma Walker.
The virtual event was a chance for the brand to share and shine a spotlight on Johnnie Walker’s Black Label, given the fact that the Black Label is a standout liquid in the Johnnie Walker portfolio.
It’s often referred to as the “Everest of whiskies” by whiskey writers, and it’s loved by bartenders all around the world for its big, vibrant profile, which is full of flavor.
Johnnie Walker achieved this flavor and result by bringing together more than twenty-nine (29) of the best whiskies, and each of those is aged for at least twelve (12) years.
Dr. Emma, who is the master blender at Johnnie Walker, blends them in perfect balance. In effect, no matter how loud one was, “consumers may notice it never drowns out another and is key to these other flavor profiles from the four (4) corners of Scotland.”
The global brand director, Julie Brandon, challenged participants to imagine a map of Scotland, where the brand sources the whiskey label from all four corners of that country.
To this end, the event presented attendees with the look and feel of a smoothie and a chance to explore these in depth with master blender, Dr. Emma, during this event.
The brand believes that taking these flavor profiles from the full tea with consumers making regions in Scotland and blending them together gives it an experience that’s distinct from that of single malts, which is the style of whiskey making.
