Chief Justice-designate, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has urged traditional rulers to take a keen interest in the justice delivery system by fostering stronger partnerships with the judiciary.
The Chief Justice-designate made the remarks during a brief ceremony organised by the Judicial Service of Ghana to honour the Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia, Nana Owiredu Wadie I, for his outstanding contribution to justice delivery through the construction and donation of a fully furnished Circuit Court Complex.
In 2022, Nana Owiredu Wadie I, Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia, constructed and handed over the Nkwatia Circuit Court Complex, a modern judicial facility equipped with a spacious courtroom, judge’s chamber, cashier’s office, registry, ADR secretariat, ADR room, cabinet room, storerooms, car park and washrooms, among other essential units.
The project was fully funded by Nana Owiredu Wadie I, with support from the Wadie family and his charitable organisation, Kabaka Foundation.

At a brief ceremony to present a citation of honour on behalf of the Chief Justice-designate, His Lordship, Justice Dr. Cyracus Bapuuroh, praised the traditional leader for single-handedly establishing a facility that significantly strengthens justice administration in the area. He called for stronger partnership with traditional rulers to enhance Justice delivery.
“You have demonstrated through action that traditional authority remains an indispensable partner in the pursuit of national progress and institutional development. Nana Owiredu Wadie I, your name will forever be associated with foresight, generosity and an unwavering commitment to justice. At a time when many communities wait for external intervention, you have shown that transformational leadership begins with individual responsibility and a heart devoted to the common good.” He commended.
Nana Owiredu Wadie I expressed gratitude to the Judicial Service for the recognition, describing it as motivation to continue supporting national development.
“When we commissioned and handed over the Kwahu East Court Complex on December 16, 2022, I said that, improving security is not only about building new institutions, but also fostering peace and togetherness. Today, I am proud that this vision has become a reality, strengthening justice and security in our beloved community. As Peace Ambassador of Eastern Region Peace Council, I call on all youth to stay away from drug abuse and acts that threaten the peace and progress of our towns. Let us choose discipline and hard work over distraction.” Nana Owiredu Wadie I urged.
He appealed to the Chief Justice to post a permanent judge to the court to ensure full operationalisation of the facility:
“I also appeal to the Judicial Service and the Minister of Justice to post a permanent judge to this modern court complex so it can fully serve the people of Kowloon-East Drake State and Kowloon Traditional Area. This honor renews my commitment to continuous service with humility, unity and integrity”.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu East, Samuel Asamoah, highlighted several other development initiatives spearheaded by Nana Owiredu Wadie I, including the construction of a police station and accommodation facilities as well as classroom blocks.
Present were Omanehene of New Juaben Dasaabre Kwaku Boateng III, other traditional rulers , Justices and staff of the judicial Service.
