The former campaign spokesperson for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s bid for the flagnearership of the New Patriotic Party, Kwasi Kwarteng Esq., , has firmly dismissed social media reports that the prominent politician has resigned from the party.
In a Facebook post on Friday, October 16, 2026, Kwarteng stated that Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong is currently in China conducting business and has not submitted any letter of resignation from the NPP to anyone.
He urged the public to disregard the claims entirely.
“Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong is currently in China conducting business. He’s not submitted any letter of resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to anyone. Please disregard any such report,” Kwarteng wrote.
The denial follows viral social media posts suggesting that Agyapong had submitted a resignation letter to the party’s National Chairman, John Boadu. T
The reports gained traction amid ongoing speculation about Agyapong’s political future after he placed second in the NPP’s presidential primary on January 31, 2026.
The former Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) in his bid to lead the NPP secured 46,554 votes (23.76 per cent), while former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won with 110,643 votes (56.48 per cent).
Similar rumours of a possible exit or breakaway from the NPP have surfaced periodically since the primary and have previously been debunked by Agyapong’s team and independent fact-checkers.
Kwarteng, a legal practitioner who served as the official spokesperson for Agyapong’s flagbearer campaign, has on multiple occasions affirmed the former Assin Central Member of Parliament’s continued membership and loyalty to the NPP.
