The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has inaugurated a nine-member Ministerial Advisory Board to guide policy direction and drive major reforms aimed at strengthening Ghana’s sports sector.
The inauguration, held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Accra, brings together a diverse team of experts from government, the private sector, and civil society, most notably football icon Abedi Ayew Pele, to support the Ministry’s long-term development strategy.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Adams emphasized that the board will not serve as a ceremonial group but will play a pivotal role in shaping national sports development. According to him, the Advisory Board will offer strategic input in critical areas such as youth development, governance reforms, and the expansion of inclusive sports initiatives across the country.

He further revealed that the long-awaited Sports Development Fund is nearing completion and will soon be laid before Parliament. The fund, he noted, is expected to provide sustainable financing for sports infrastructure, athlete development, and grassroots programmes.
The nine-member board is composed of: Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams (MP) – Minister for Sports and Recreation (Chairman) ; Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah – Chief Director, Ministry of Sports and Recreation; Amb. Alexander Grant Ntrakwa – Head of Delivery, Ministry of Foreign Affairs ; Mr. Stephen Kwaku Owusu – Technical Advisor, Ministry of Education ; Ms. Amerley Nuno-Amarteifio – Director of Legal, Ministry of Finance ; Mr. Cleanse Tsonam Akpeloo – CEO, Suku Technologies / AGI Representative ; COP Lydia Yaako Donkor – Director-General, CID ; Mr. Abedi Ayew Pele – Former Black Stars Captain ; and Mr. Michael Esuon – Director, Finance & Administration, Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Secretary).

Hon. Adams expressed confidence in the team’s expertise and urged members to bring forward bold and innovative ideas that reflect Ghana’s ambition to become a continental force in sports and recreation. He assured the board of his full support, adding that all practical recommendations would be integrated into the Ministry’s broader reform and delivery agenda.
The inauguration marks a significant step in the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen collaboration, enhance accountability, and accelerate growth within Ghana’s sports ecosystem.
