West Ham star and New Black Stars captain Mohammed Kudus has expressed his sincere apologies to Ghanaians on behalf of the Black Stars team.
The apology comes after the poor performance of the team on Tuesday which saw Sudan defeat Ghana 2-0 in Round 4 of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
In his statement released on Wednesday, Mohammed Kudus stated, “As someone who captained the team in the two games, it is with great humility and a deep sense of responsibility that I issue this statement. On behalf of the entire team, I would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the people of Ghana for our recent performances against Sudan in Accra and Libya.”
Mohammed Kudus assured Ghanaians that the Black Stars are committed to learning from their experience in the Sudan doubleheader to improve in future assignments.
“We want to assure Ghanaians that we are committed to learning from our mistakes, regrouping, and working tirelessly to restore the Black Stars to our former glory. We value the unwavering support and loyalty you’ve shown us, and we’re determined to make you proud once again,” Mohammed Kudus said.
The new Black Stars captain further urged fans to support the team during their challenging period.
The West Ham man emphasized that the Black Stars players are determined to achieve success.
The results from the two games leave Ghana on the verge of missing out on a place in Morocco next year.
They now sit third in Group F with two points and trail Sudan who are in second by five points. Ghana would have to win the remaining two games against Angola and Niger in November and hope Sudan lose both of theirs as well to stand a chance of qualifying for the continental event.
