Veteran Ghanaian actress Kalsoume Sinare Baffle has been appointed Ghana’s new Ambassador to Spain by President and NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.
Her appointment was officially confirmed in a letter dated June 21, 2025, signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama. It forms part of a new wave of 15 diplomatic nominations, including ambassadors, high commissioners, and a consul-general designate, tasked with representing Ghana’s interests abroad.
With this new role, the 58-year-old veteran becomes the fifth Ghanaian to serve as Ambassador to Spain, and notably, only the third woman to hold the position. Her appointment underscores Ghana’s growing commitment to entrusting high-level diplomatic positions to accomplished women whose experiences cut across culture, leadership, and public service.
Sinare’s influence spans nearly four decades in the creative arts. She rose to fame in 1993 with her breakout performance in Out of Sight, Out of Love, and has since featured in over 300 films, winning numerous accolades including the Golden Actress Award in 2017.

Even before her success in film, she had already established a name for herself on international platforms—securing first runner-up in the 1989 Miss Ghana pageant and winning the Miss Model of Africa title at the 1990 Miss Model of the World competition in Taiwan.
Beyond entertainment, Sinare holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from GIMPA, a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, and professional certifications in International Cultural Diplomacy and AfCFTA implementation. She currently heads Farikals Productions, a business entity with interests in healthcare, construction, trade, and entertainment.
In public service, she has served on the Ghana Tourism Development Board and continues to play an active role in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), reflecting a broader commitment to civic engagement and national development.
Kalsoume Sinare’s appointment as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain reflects the country’s shifting approach to diplomacy, one that embraces experience from diverse sectors and also aligns with President John Mahama’s commitment to empowering more women through strategic leadership roles.
