President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in the Republic of Korea for a five-day working visit aimed at deepening Ghana’s longstanding diplomatic, trade, and technological relations with the country.
He landed at Seoul’s Air Force Base at 8:00 p.m. Korea Time and was warmly received by the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Park Kyongsig; Chung Kwangyong, Director General of the Africa and Middle East Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea, Kojo Choi, along with other officials from the Ghanaian Embassy.
Ghana and South Korea have maintained decades of cooperation in trade, education, technology, infrastructure, and cultural exchange. The visit is expected to enhance these ties and explore new opportunities in industry, innovation, shipping, and human capital development.
During the visit, President Mahama will hold a bilateral meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung and meet the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, Woo Won-shik.
He is also scheduled to attend a ship-naming ceremony at Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan and deliver an address at a conferment ceremony at Yonsei University.
The President will engage with Ghanaian students and professionals in South Korea and meet with business leaders to discuss investment prospects in Ghana.
He is accompanied by a delegation including Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President; Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Advisor and Special Aide; Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs; and Stan Xoese Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations.
This visit reflects Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with South Korea while promoting trade, investment, and technological collaboration.
