The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to substantiate the claim that his government has constructed 12,000 kilometers of roads across Ghana.
During his tour of the Western Region , at the regional house of chiefs, Mr. Mahama pointed out that most chiefs he has engaged with during his tour have raised concerns about poor road infrastructure in their areas.
Hence he questioned the credibility of the NPP’s claim, stating that the condition of roads in regions like the Western Region contradicts their boastful assertions.
According to Mr. Mahama, the Western Region, despite being a resource-rich area, continues to suffer from poor road infrastructure.
He reminded the chiefs that during his tenure as President, the NDC initiated targeted programs such as the Cocoa Roads Project and the Gas Enclave Roads Program to address the region’s road infrastructural needs.
However, he lamented that these initiatives were abandoned when the NPP came to power, further worsening the road challenges in the region.
The former President assured the chiefs and residents that, under the next NDC government, road infrastructure will be prioritized.
