The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has said President John Dramani Mahama is steadily fulfilling key promises made to Ghanaians ahead of the 2024 elections.
He urged party members and supporters to remain calm and rally behind the President, stressing that they stand a better chance of benefiting if the government succeeds.
Highlighting the NDC’s progress, Mr. Asiedu Nketia pointed to the removal of the E-levy and betting tax, the commencement of the National Apprenticeship Program, the launch of the Big Push agenda, the uncapping of the District Assembly Common Fund, and the introduction of the Nkoko Nketenkete Program as clear evidence that the party is delivering on its commitments.
Speaking during an engagement with supporters in Upper Manya Krobo and Asuogyaman as part of his Thank You Tour, the NDC Chairman also criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of deceiving Ghanaians during the 2024 elections — a betrayal he said has led to their recent public apology.
On the Akwatia by-election, Mr. Asiedu Nketia explained that the NDC’s decision not to withdraw from the contest was deliberate, aimed at exposing both the Electoral Commission and the NPP, whom he accused of rigging the 2024 parliamentary results in favour of the late MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi.
He reiterated the NDC’s commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s democracy, assuring supporters that the party will continue to hold the government accountable and protect the mandate of the people.
