President John Dramani Mahama has extended a strong invitation to Czech businesses to take part in Ghana’s ambitious 24-Hour Economy Policy, describing it as a transformative agenda to boost productivity, drive industrial growth, and create sustainable jobs across sectors.
Delivering the keynote address at the Ghana-Czech Business Cooperation Seminar held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, President Mahama emphasized the potential of deepening economic ties between Ghana and the Czech Republic, building on a diplomatic relationship that dates back to 1959.
“This forum represents more than just a meeting of business minds it is an opportunity to reimagine our partnership in a way that brings lasting prosperity to both our nations,” he said.
Mahama identified strategic sectors such as manufacturing, agro-processing, healthcare, digital services, and logistics as key areas for mutually beneficial collaboration.
“The time has come to elevate our historical ties into dynamic, future-facing partnerships,” Mahama said. “Let us match our shared goodwill with bold action in trade, technology transfer, and investment.”
The President outlined his government’s 24-Hour Economy Policy as a bold step toward maximizing infrastructure use, expanding value addition, and making Ghana a more competitive and resilient economy.
He stressed that Czech expertise particularly in technology, advanced machinery, medical innovation, and transport systems can be instrumental in advancing Ghana’s developmental goals.
Highlighting Ghana’s role as the host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, Mahama positioned the country as an ideal gateway for Czech businesses looking to access Africa’s vast and growing market of over 1.3 billion people.
“Our location, stability, and pro-business reforms make Ghana the ideal partner for Czech enterprises looking to engage with Africa,” Mahama noted.
“Ghana is open for business,” the President declared. “We are ready to work with our Czech partners to build an economy that reflects innovation, inclusion, and shared prosperity.”
The event saw participation from Czech President Petr Pavel, ministers of state, business executives, and diplomatic representatives from both countries.
President Mahama expressed appreciation for Czech support in areas like healthcare, including the soon-to-be-inaugurated Kpone Hospital, and revealed plans for a trade and investment forum in Prague later this year.
