Deputy spokesperson for the John Mahama campaign, Beatrice Annan Esq., has credited John Mahama with pioneering digitalization in Ghana, criticizing the current government for its alleged lack of progress in this area.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, Ms. Annan accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer of merely developing non-functional software applications and falsely labeling them as digitalization.
“The vice president is just developing apps and calling them digitalization,” she stated.
Ms. Annan declared John Mahama as the leading figure in Ghana’s digital transformation.
“If there is anybody who is the father of digitalization in this country, it is John Mahama,” she asserted.
She highlighted the Mahama administration’s achievement of laying 600 kilometers of fiber-optic cable across the country to improve mobile internet connectivity, particularly in underserved areas.
“In many parts of the north, they cannot have access to mobile networks. It was President Mahama who laid 600km of fiber-optic cable; he laid it from Accra through the Volta Region to the north and ended up in Bawku. Ghanaians having access to internet connectivity is the doing of President Mahama and the NDC,” she claimed.
She concluded by criticizing the current government for its alleged failure to expand fiber-optic infrastructure while promoting digitalization as a key policy.
Madam Annan contrasted Mahama’s approach, emphasizing that he did not employ slogans to publicize these essential services.
“Mahama didn’t think we should use slogans because mobile connectivity is a basic necessity, just like hospitals; you need not attach slogans,” she stated.
