President John Dramani Mahama has called for a thorough forensic audit into the organisation and management of the 13th African Games held in Ghana, following a report submitted by the National Intelligence Bureau.
The directive, issued through the Office of the President, underscores the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources.
The audit, to be conducted by the Auditor-General, will examine all aspects of the Games, including financial operations, procurement, infrastructure development, and overall project execution.

The review will also assess the performance and coordination of all government bodies and committees involved in planning and delivering the event.
President Mahama has requested that the findings of the investigation be submitted by the second week of December 2025. The 13th African Games, known as Accra 2023, took place from 8 to 23 March 2024 and were celebrated for showcasing Ghana’s capacity to host continental sporting events.
However, questions have been raised regarding procurement processes, cost management, and the execution of infrastructure projects.
The forensic audit aims to address these concerns comprehensively, ensuring accountability and providing lessons to improve the organisation of future national and continental sporting events.
