President John Dramani Mahama has received the final report from the National Economic Dialogue and has pledged to implement its recommendations for economic transformation.
The seven-member committee, led by renowned economist Dr. Ishmail Yamson, presented the report to the President at the presidency on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Speaking after the submission, President Mahama commended the committee for its stellar work, stating that the report is not just a policy document but a covenant between the government and the governed. He emphasized that the outcome of the dialogue is critical to boosting investor confidence in the economy for growth and development.
“The final report of the National Economic Dialogue is more than just a policy document, it is a covenant between the government and the governed, between evidence and action, and between vision and results.
“We asked Ghanaians to trust this process and you did. Today, I reaffirm our end of commitment, we implement this reforms with urgently, honesty and discipline,” Mr. Mahama stated.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to managing the country’s fiscal affairs with transparency, insisting that the national interest would remain paramount in all policy decisions.
“We’ll govern not in secrecy but in openness, we’ll place the National interest above every narrow considerations,” President Mahama added.
Beyond that, President Mahama revealed plans to establish an inter-ministerial implementation committee tasked with coordinating the implementation of the National Economic Dialogue’s outcomes, signaling a firm commitment to translating policy discussions into concrete action.
“In the coming days I will issue and executive directive establishing an inter-ministerial implementation committee to coordinate all actions flowing from the report. That committee will include civil society and private sector observers and publish its final implementation bulletin by August 2025,” Mr. Mahama noted.
Held between March 3rd and 4th at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), the National Economic Dialogue fulfilled President Mahama’s 120-day social contract with Ghanaians.

It brought together members from civil society, academia, and trade unions, among others, to ascertain the true state of the national economy, discuss, and solicit inputs and ideas for economic transformation in line with the government’s ‘Reset Agenda’.
