President John Dramani Mahama has returned from a successful state visit to China, where he held high-level bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping aimed at strengthening Ghana–China relations.
During the meeting, President Xi announced an additional grant of 200 million RMB to Ghana, bringing China’s total grant support to 400 million RMB.

According to Chinese officials, the new funds will finance the construction of the Aflao Market and the renovation of the National Theatre in Accra.
President Mahama described the gesture as “a demonstration of China’s continued confidence in Ghana’s economic reset agenda.”
He noted that the Aflao Market project will become a major cross-border trading hub linking Ghana and Togo under his government’s #ResettingGhanaAgenda.

The two leaders also reviewed progress on the Zero Tariff Policy, which is expected to be finalised by the end of October to enhance trade and export opportunities between the two countries.
President Mahama further revealed that China had expressed strong interest in partnering Ghana on the 24-hour economy initiative and the Green Transition policy, both of which are key pillars of his administration’s development plan.

He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the One China Policy and pledged continued collaboration with Beijing toward shared goals of economic growth, sustainability, and global cooperation.
