In a spirited event held at the University of Professional Studies ( UPSA), Accra, former President John Dramani Mahama, who is also the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), officially launched the NDC Youth Manifesto, outlining bold commitments aimed at transforming the lives of young Ghanaians.
The manifesto, themed “Empowering Tomorrow, Voices of the Future,” is geared towards creating sustainable jobs, enhancing education, and promoting youth participation in governance.
Addressing a vibrant crowd of NDC supporters and youth groups, Mahama emphasized the centrality of the youth to the party’s vision for Ghana’s future. “The NDC has always believed in the potential of the youth. This manifesto is not just a document; it is a pact with the young people of Ghana to ensure that their voices are heard and their needs are met,” he stated.
The former president highlighted key areas of the manifesto, including a commitment to creating over one million jobs for the youth within his first term if elected. “We will tackle the unemployment crisis head-on by investing in industries that have the capacity to absorb large numbers of our youth. This includes agriculture, manufacturing, and digital technology,” Mahama assured.
Mahama also addressed the importance of education in the manifesto, promising to make tertiary education more accessible and relevant to the job market. “Education should not be a luxury. We will ensure that every young person, regardless of their background, has access to quality education that equips them with the skills needed for the 21st century,” he added.
The event was met with enthusiastic support from the attendees, many of whom expressed confidence in Mahama’s vision for the youth.
The NDC Youth Manifesto launch marks a significant step in the party’s campaign strategy as it seeks to motivate the youth to vote for the party in the upcoming elections.
