President John Dramani Mahama has called for unity and renewed prayers for global peace, warning that escalating tensions in the Middle East are having far-reaching consequences beyond the region.
Speaking during an Iftar with the Muslim community at the Jubilee House on Monday, March 16, the President urged Ghanaians to remain committed to preserving the country’s peace while remembering nations affected by conflict.
“At a time when many parts of the world are faced with conflict and uncertainty, we must continue to protect the peace and stability Ghana enjoys,” he said.
President Mahama appealed to the Muslim community to use the period of Ramadan to pray for Ghana, its leadership, and countries experiencing unrest.
“I humbly ask for your prayers during this Ramadan for our country, for our leaders, and for other parts of the world that are afflicted by conflict, especially the Middle East,” he added.
He expressed concern about the growing tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran, noting that the situation has global implications.
“The conflict between the U.S. and Israel and Iran is affecting not only the Middle East, it’s affecting the whole world,” he stated.
The President further called for divine intervention to restore peace in the troubled region.
“And so we pray that Allah will touch the hearts of everybody involved in this conflict and bring peace to the people in the area,” he said.
Quoting from the Quran, President Mahama emphasized the importance of unity and togetherness, urging people to avoid division and conflict.
“We are one people. There’s no need for the fighting that is taking place,” he stressed.
His remarks come at a time of heightened global uncertainty, as geopolitical tensions continue to pose risks to international peace and economic stability.
