The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has launched an investigation into allegations that seven military personnel assaulted three civilians in Kumasi on March 28, 2025.
According to a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters in Accra, the incident involved three officers and four soldiers. The military personnel reportedly arrested and attacked the civilians on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone belonging to another civilian. The victims allegedly sustained varying degrees of injuries.
In response, the Military Police and the Ashanti Regional Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have taken up the case. The officers and soldiers involved have been placed under close arrest pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Military High Command assured the public that any personnel found culpable would be dealt with according to the law. They also urged the families and friends of the victims to remain calm while investigations continue.
Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, Director General of Public Relations for the GAF, signed the press release, which has been circulated to all media houses for publication.
