The Armed Forces Council has announced the immediate withdrawal of military protection for civilians who are not entitled to such services, including public officials, former ministers, businesspeople, and other private individuals.
The move forms part of the government’s broader Reset Agenda aimed at restoring discipline, accountability, and responsible use of state resources.
In a statement shared on Facebook by the Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah on Tuesday, July 15, the Armed Forces Council made it clear that the days of using military personnel for personal security by unauthorised individuals are over.
“This decision aims to stop the misuse of military personnel for personal gain,” the statement read.
It further warned that any military personnel found offering guard duties or any other services outside official authorisation will face “far-reaching consequences.”
“We’re committed to transparency and accountability,” the statement added, calling on the public to support efforts to build “a more responsible and just society.”
The announcement signals a strong push to restore professional integrity within the armed forces and prioritise national over individual interest.
