The Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) has announced the re-appointment of Henry Kwaku Nyanteh Larbi to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Wheelchair Tennis Committee for the 2026-2027 term.

Confirmation of his re-appointment on December 4, 2025, makes him the sole African representative on the global committee.

Henry Larbi first joined the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee for the 2024–2025 cycle, where he played a key role in shaping development pathways and strengthening wheelchair tennis initiatives.

His re-appointment is seen as a major recognition of both his contributions and Ghana’s growing involvement in inclusive tennis development.

GTF President, Isaac Abe Duah, described the achievement as a proud moment for Ghana and the continent.

“This re-appointment is a significant honour not only for Henry, but for Ghana and the African continent as a whole,” he said, adding that “his continued presence on the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee ensures that the voice and aspirations of African wheelchair tennis players and programmes are strongly represented at the highest level.”

The ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee oversees global wheelchair tennis policies, competition structures, development programmes, and inclusion initiatives. Larbi’s renewed mandate signals the ITF’s confidence in his leadership and dedication.

Reacting to the news, Larbi expressed gratitude and a renewed commitment to advancing the sport.

I am committed to working with my colleagues to ensure that wheelchair tennis continues to grow in participation, visibility, and opportunity; especially across developing nations and on the African continent.”

Under his leadership, Ghana has increased participation in wheelchair tennis and expanded inclusive sports programmes.

His continued presence on the committee is expected to unlock greater opportunities for Ghanaian and African athletes, including technical support and international exposure.
