The 2004 Class of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association, has launched the MOBA 04 Trust Fund, setting an ambitious goal of raising GH₵2 million ($200,000).

The fund’s vision is far-reaching, encompassing various initiatives such as preparations for the upcoming 2024 Speech Day and the significant responsibility of being the main sponsor for the esteemed 2034 Speech Day.

Beyond this, the Trust Fund is driven by a noble objective to extend support to fellow members facing challenges related to health and welfare while fostering essential networking and business opportunities.

The event held at the prestigious Marriott Hotel in Accra, witnessed an impassioned speech by the fraternity’s President, Samuel Menyah Asah-Kissiedu, expressing immense pride and excitement in addressing the esteemed gathering. The occasion held a poignant significance as it marked a reconnection after 19 years since their time at Kwabotwe, the revered Mfantsipim School. This reunion underscored the fraternity’s unwavering commitment to giving back to their alma mater and positively influencing the lives of future students.

The establishment of the MOBA 04 Trust Fund signifies a remarkable milestone in the fraternity’s dedication to education and creating opportunities for generations to come.

At the heart of the fund’s mission lies the aspiration to create a secure pool of resources, fueling the development of their alma mater and ensuring the success of the 2024 Speech Day. Simultaneously, the fund aims to address critical health and welfare concerns faced by members, demonstrating a strong belief in the power of collective contributions, active involvement, and seamless collaboration among the fraternity.

In his address, Mr. Asah-Kissiedu expressed gratitude for the cherished memories of their time at Kwabotwe, where they imbibed invaluable life lessons. He acknowledged the senior MOBAs’ role in inspiring the MOBA 04 fraternity on their journey to serve their alma mater. To ensure the Trust Fund’s objectives come to fruition, a dedicated 14-member trustee board has been formed, comprising brothers from various classes and houses, both in Ghana and beyond. These trustees have committed their time, knowledge, and resources to source and manage the funds required for the fund’s initiatives.

In the closing moments, the President expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated and passionate members of the Executive Board for their tireless efforts in making the event a resounding success. He extended appreciation to all attendees and participants, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to Kwabotwe and their essential role in this momentous occasion.

Looking ahead, the fraternity extends a cordial invitation to all members to contribute generously to the fund and actively participate in its endeavors. The fraternity recognizes that each member’s involvement, insights, and experiences are invaluable in shaping a successful future for both the fraternity and their cherished alma mater.

Addressing the gathering on behalf of the Chairman of the fund, Mr. Michael Darko revealed the ingenious three-pronged strategy adopted by the 14-member trustee board to raise funds. This strategy includes raising GH₵134,000 from each of the 13 classes within the 2004 year group, reaching out to corporate bodies in alumni networks, and raising GH₵100,000 each through personal connections among the 14 trustees, their friends, and families. As a demonstration of their unwavering commitment, the trustees presented a GH₵100,000 cheque as seed money for the fund.

Captain Paul Forjoe, the Ebusuapanyin of Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA), commended MOBA 04 for their dedication in establishing the fund. He urged them to unite and contribute wholeheartedly, reminding them that contributions could take various forms, including time, money, and influence.

With the momentous launch of the MOBA 04 Trust Fund, the fraternity stands ready to create a legacy of empowerment and transformation, securing a brighter future for generations of students at their beloved Kwabotwe. Their commitment exemplifies the true spirit of giving back and leaving a lasting impact on their alma mater, setting an inspiring example for others to follow.
