The Ministry for the Interior has announced a curfew on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding areas in the North East Region. The curfew, effective Sunday, July 27, 2025, will be enforced daily from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until further notice.
The directive, issued by the Interior Minister Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), follows advice from the North East Regional Security Council and is backed by an Executive Instrument.
Government has urged the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, youth, and residents to remain calm and resolve grievances through peaceful and non-violent means. Authorities emphasized the importance of restraint to help preserve peace in the area.
In addition to the curfew, there is a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons in the affected areas. The statement warns that anyone found in breach of this order will be arrested and prosecuted.
The government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the peace and security of all citizens and called for full cooperation from the people of Nalerigu and its environs.
