In a strategic move to combat youth unemployment, the National Youth Authority (NYA), with support from the Government of Ghana has launched the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) at the University of Development Studies Auditorium, Tamale.
This initiative seeks to equip young Ghanaians with practical skills to enhance their employability and contribute to the nation’s development.
During the launch, President John Dramani Mahama highlighted the programme’s potential to transform the future of young people in Ghana.
“We’re not simply launching a programme, we’re sparking a revolution of skills, dreams, and hope. We’re laying out a bold path to a future where every young Ghanaian is equipped with the tools and opportunities to succeed,” he stated.
The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo also endorsed the programme, calling it a pivotal step forward for youth empowerment in Ghana. He expressed that the programme would offer young Ghanaians the necessary skills to thrive in the evolving job market.


“Today, we’re not just starting a programme but igniting a promise for the nation a promise that every young Ghanaian deserves the tools to shape their future,” Honourable Opare Addo passionately stated.
Osman Ayariga, CEO of the National Youth Authority, pledged the Authority’s commitment to the programme’s success. He also commended President Mahama for prioritising youth empowerment, noting that the President has consistently placed young people at the forefront of his administration’s agenda.
“Your Excellency, you have placed youth at the core of many sectors within your government. I assure you, we will not, we cannot, and we shall not fail you,” Mr. Ayariga affirmed.
