The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has named Mahdi Gibrill as Acting Director of Elections and Information Technology (IT), following a decision by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC).
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, comes after the passing of former Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah in a helicopter crash in August 2025.
Mr. Gibrill will now oversee elections management, electoral strategy, and the party’s IT operations.
In a letter to Mr. Gibrill on Thursday, January 29, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey said, “You are hereby formally appointed as Acting Director of Elections and Information Technology (IT) of the Party,” noting that the move recognizes his “experience, competence, and commitment to the Party.”
He is expected to work closely with the party’s leadership and directorates to ensure the effective implementation of electoral and IT functions. The appointment is acting in nature and will remain in place until further notice.
The letter was also copied to all regional directors of Elections and IT, regional chairmen, and secretaries to ensure coordination across the party’s structures.
