The sixteen Regional Communications Officers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have publicly commended former President John Dramani Mahama for what they describe as exemplary leadership and statesmanship in his handling of the recent controversy involving the party’s National Communications Officer, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi.
In a joint press release issued on Thursday, May 15, 2025, the officers praised Mahama’s “inspiring leadership, wisdom, fairness, and maturity” in navigating the public discourse surrounding Sammy Gyamfi.
The group expressed satisfaction with Mahama’s response, noting that it emphasized values such as “accountability, forgiveness, and humility in public life.” They also welcomed Sammy Gyamfi’s public apology, describing it as sincere and emblematic of someone who acted “in good faith.”

According to the statement, the officers believe Sammy Gyamfi’s actions were motivated by “misguided generosity rather than misconduct” and praised his continued commitment to national progress through his leadership of the Ghana Gold Board.
They further lauded his calmness and maturity throughout the ordeal, citing the withdrawal of the CHRAJ complaint as a sign of his “strength of character.”
Led by their Dean, Richard Kirk-Mensah, the sixteen Regional Communications Officers and their deputies reaffirmed their full support for Gyamfi, expressing confidence in his dedication to the NDC and the country.
