The deplorable roads in Koforidua Zongo are undergoing reshaping to ease transportation challenges.
For years, the Zongo roads had deteriorated so badly that they were virtually unmotorable, forcing residents to rely mainly on motorized tricycles, popularly known as okada, to access the Zongo community and surrounding areas such as Pipeline, Sentimental and Bohye areas.
Resident embarked on protest last year to draw their attention of city authorities, but the situation remained.
The reshaping, done with grading and compacted gravel, has already made the roads more accessible and improved traffic flow.

Addressing the media after inspection of the ongoing road reshaping project, the MCE for New Juaben South, Ransford Owusu Boakye explained that the move is only a temporary measure while awaiting the central government’s approval of a 10-kilometre asphalt contract for the Zongo roads.

Some residents of Koforidua Zongo welcomed the development, recounting the struggles they endured in accessing vehicles, especially during rainy seasons. They commended the Assembly for prioritizing their needs and expressed hope that the promised asphalt project will follow soon.
