The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced plans to deploy inspectors from Monday, February 2, 2026, to ensure that only licensed operators are engaged in jewellery manufacturing, gold fabrication, and refining businesses across the country.
In a notice dated Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the board reminded the public that engaging in these activities without a valid GoldBod licence constitutes an offense under Act 1140.
“Only duly licensed persons are authorised to engage in gold trading, jewellery manufacturing, gold fabrication and gold refining businesses in Ghana,” the notice stated.
The board further highlighted that all existing operators were expected to regularize their operations by December 31, 2025. Inspectors will now be deployed to verify compliance and take enforcement action against unlicensed entities.
GoldBod also congratulated companies that have successfully obtained licences, including Sourcechain Enterprise and Shepaj Limited Company.
According to GoldBod, this move forms part of the board’s ongoing effort to strengthen regulation of Ghana’s gold sector, ensuring that all activities in jewellery and gold trading are legal, accountable, and in line with national standards.
