The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced the disbursement of an additional GHS259.5 million to credentialed healthcare providers across the country, reinforcing its commitment to sustaining the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
According to a press release issued by the Authority on Wednesday, the latest payment, sanctioned by NHIA Chief Executive Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, was made to public, private, mission, and quasi-public healthcare facilities.
Breakdown of the GHS259,546,601.77 payment includes:
- GHS112.6 million (43%) to public facilities
- GHS104.6 million (40%) to private facilities
- GHS40 million (15%) to mission facilities
- GHS2.28 million (1%) to quasi-public facilities
With this recent disbursement, total claims payments made by the NHIA so far in 2025 have exceeded GHS1.1 billion.
“This significant disbursement demonstrates the NHIA’s unwavering commitment to sustaining the NHIS and ensuring that healthcare providers are resourced and motivated to deliver quality services to our cherished members,” the statement read.
The Authority also reaffirmed its focus on improving efficiency, strengthening relations with providers, and ensuring financial access to quality healthcare for all Ghanaians.
The NHIA thanked its stakeholders for their continued support and assured the public of transparency, accountability, and timely payments.
