Nigeria’s Super Eagles have received a timely boost ahead of their crucial AFCON quarter-final clash against Algeria, with the Federal Government confirming that all outstanding group-stage bonuses have been paid.
Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, announced that the payments are on their way to the players’ accounts, thanks to swift action by the government and the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The development ends speculation of a possible training boycott or travel disruptions ahead of the high-stakes match.
In a statement, Uzoka-Anite said, “No distractions, just football. We’re backing our boys to bring the trophy home.”
The Eagles, who have enjoyed a flawless AFCON campaign so far, will now focus on securing a semi-final spot when they face Algeria in Marrakesh.
Nigeria impressed in the Round of 16 with a 4-0 win against Mozambique and will look to build on that momentum in their next match.
