Cynthia Morrison, Independent Candidate in the Agona West Constituency has refuted media publication that her car was shot at during a mini rally in the constituency.
On Sunday, 27th October 2024, an unfortunate shooting incident occurred at Agona Nyakrom during a mini campaign rally for Independent candidate, Cynthia Morrison, Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to Ghone’s Yaw Boagyan, the incident occurred when the lights were out during the rally, and a convoy allegedly from the camp of the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate, Chris Arthur was passing by. An unidentified man from one of the pickups fired shots resulting in three of her supporters sustaining some injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
However, speaking on GHOne TV with Lantam Papanko, Cynthia Morrison debunked claims that suggested that there were assassination attempts on her life and there were shots targeted at her car.
“Yesterday, as usual, I was on my campaign trip in Nyakrom, and then it was light off. I saw a convoy, and Nyakrom has been blocked, we have only one way. The police were directing the cars to another road. Then I saw a convoy coming, and then the police were opening up for them to pass. So, when a few of the cars passed, I saw the PC for Agona West’s car, it was branded, so I realized that it was them. They came to pass, and then, you know, as usual, the boys were making noise, and I was singing, and whatever. Then they went. Then they were coming, whatever, and after a while, the police started pushing the car. And then some said, a gunshot. Seriously, I did not hear the gunshot. I was so close to the music, because of proximity, but I did not hear the gunshot”, she recounted.
She continued, “I did not even hear the gunshots. But seriously, the police did a good job. The way they pulled me, you know, surrounded and made sure that I was in the car. So we returned and left the scene. But nobody shot my car. That is what I have to say. Nobody shot my car.”
She further stated that she would go ahead with her campaign as planned.
