The Office of the National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the immediate suspension of the National Treasurer’s ongoing working visit following a road accident in the Savannah Region.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 24, 2026, near the Buipe Township.
The National Treasurer’s convoy was travelling from Tamale toward Kintampo as part of an official tour when the accident took place.
The party confirmed that the National Treasurer and his team members are safe and unharmed.
While most occupants of the other vehicle involved also escaped without serious injury, the driver of that vehicle sustained injuries.
According to the statement, the driver was quickly transported to the Central Gonja Government Hospital, where officials say he is currently responding to treatment.
“As a result of the accident, the National Treasurer has decided to halt all remaining activities on his itinerary,” the statement continued.
The Office of the National Treasurer stated that the visit will remain suspended until further notice.
The party has reassured its members and the broader public regarding the treasurer’s well-being.
“The Office of the National Treasurer wishes to assure all Party members and the General Public that the National Treasurer is safe and that there is no cause for alarm,” the statement concluded.
