The Subin primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been put on hold by a Kumasi High Court.
An injunction has been placed on the polls by some 51 delegates who claim their names have been deleted from the constituency album which will be used for the election today.
The suit is aimed at the electoral Commission, the New Patriotic Party and the branch of the party in the constituency.
In a writ, the plaintiffs prayed the court to stop the “defendants from using any illegal, unlawful and wrongful photo album for the purposes of conducting the election in the Subin NPP Constituency Parliamentary primaries scheduled to take place on the 20th day of June, 2020.
“A declaration that the unilateral suspension of the plaintiffs by the defendants with the intention to disenfranchise them from participating in the scheduled NPP Subin Parliamentary Primaries Election on the 20th day of June 2020 is illegal, unlawful and wrongful.”
Meanwhile, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammi Awuku has dismissed reports of vote-buying in the Bantama primaries of the party.
The incumbent Member of Parliament for Bantama in the Ashanti region Daniel Okyem Aboagye has accused his competitor Deputy Chief of Staff Francis Asenso-Boakye of using money to induce delegates. Mr. Asenso-Boakye has denied the accusation in a statement issued Thursday.
Speaking to Starr News on the development, Mr Awuku said the party has not been given any credible evidence of vote-buying.
“There is no evidence of vote-buying. Nobody has brought anything of evidential value to us. People just make claims and such things can’t be proven,” he told Naa Borle Bortey on the campaign trail.
