More than 60 security personnel have been deployed at the Ayawaso East Constituency to ensure order and safety as voting continues in the ongoing NPP presidential primaries.
Voting at Ayawaso East, like in other constituencies nationwide, is reportedly proceeding smoothly, with party officials overseeing the process to guarantee fairness and transparency.
The presidential primary features five aspirants – Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyepong. Results are expected later today after the close of polling and collation of ballots.
An estimated 211,000 delegates across the country are participating in the exercise, casting their votes at over 300 polling centres as the NPP elects its flagbearer for the 2028 presidential elections.
The party has described the primaries as a crucial internal democratic exercise to reposition itself ahead of the next general elections.
