Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Krobea Asante, has disclosed that the party deliberately prioritises regional balance in its national leadership structure to ensure inclusivity and unity across the country.
Speaking on The Verdict with Isaac Addae on Starr 103.5 FM on Tuesday, August 5, Mr. Asante revealed that even though candidates contest for positions on individual merit, the final composition of national leadership is always structured to reflect representation from all regions.
“At any given time, you make sure that the positions are allocated such that every region will feel a part of the national leadership,” he said.
He explained that this balance is often achieved both through elections and appointments. According to him, after internal elections, regions that do not secure leadership positions are often considered for appointments to maintain national spread and harmony.
“Unfortunately, those regions that will be left out, that’s when we will fill in with the appointment positions,” he noted.

Mr. Asante, who once served as a Constituency Publications Officer, said this approach has always been part of the party’s tradition and is one of the key factors contributing to the NPP’s internal cohesion.
“I don’t know how they do it, whether they meet to decide or whatever, but trust me, by the time they finish elections, you realise that every region has a representation,” he said.
