Leader of the All People’s Congress (ANC) Hassan Ayariga has stated that the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta is the worst minister in the history of Ghana.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Francis Abban Monday, Mr. Ayariga stated that President Akufo-Addo cannot sack Mr. Ofori-Atta because of his investment into the President’s campaign over the years.
“He (Ofori-Atta) is the worst Finance Minister in the history of Ghana because he brought our currency down to become the worst currency in the history of Ghana.
“He can’t be fired because he is part of the structure of the government that came to power through any kind of support financially. He acts as President and the President will never fire him because he acts as the President,” Mr. Ayariga stated.
He continued: “You are yet to understand business and politics. There are certain people who sit out there who control the President more than the President controls himself. Because the President in his bid to become president over the years has taken money from the people to finance his campaign and that is why it is very difficult for the President to change his ministers.”
Mr. Ayariga stated that the Ministers have been placed there to recoup their investments made into the President’s campaign over the years.
“They were part of the team and sponsored the campaign, bringing in money and bringing in resources. So they chose their ministries. That is why we have most Presidents who cannot perform,” he stated.
