Veteran broadcaster, Ebenezer Yaw Jonah, popularly known as Osempekani, has assumed hosting duties for Abusua 96.5 FM’s premier morning program, Abusua Nkommo, following the departure of seasoned journalist, Kojo Marfo.
Jonah, who recently rejoined the EIB Network subsidiary after a stint on the station’s evening show Abusua Adwenekyere, brings decades of experience in political commentary and local governance analysis.
Renowned for his bold takes on national issues, sharp delivery on socio-political topics, and incisive interview style, Osempekani is poised to energize the flagship slot.
His media journey began in 2001 at Dove FM (now Sikka FM) in Kumasi. After four years, he ventured to South Africa, where he contributed to Impact FM, a community Christian radio station. Notably, while there, he covered an international friendly soccer match between Ghana and South Africa for Angel FM back home.

Returning to Ghana after two years abroad, Jonah briefly rejoined Dove FM before Fox 97.9 FM recruited him.
He collaborated with Captain Smart on the morning show and the Saturday program Asanteman Nkosuo for nine years. Following Smart’s exit, Jonah stayed an additional six years at Fox FM, then moved to Abusua FM for one year, returned to Fox FM, spent six months at Adehye3 FM, and has now settled back at Abusua 96.5 FM.
Industry watchers praise Osempekani’s deep roots in Ashanti Region media and his ability to blend grassroots insights with national discourse.
“His return strengthens our morning lineup,” an Abusua 96.5 FM insider said.
