The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo.
A statement communicating the decision was issued on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
A string of disappointing results from the team in recent times, including a 5-1 loss to Austria and 2-1 loss to Germany during the recent international break, contributed to his sack.
“The Ghana Football Association has parted ways with the head coach of the senior men’s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo, effective immediately. The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” a statement from the GFA read.
Sources within the GFA indicate that the search for a replacement is already underway, though no specific candidate has been settled upon.
The source continued that the fate of Coach Otto Addo was already sealed before the match against Germany with the GFA considering appointing a new coach to lead the Black Stars into the World Cup in June.
Ghana is drawn in Group L alongside England, Panama, and Croatia in the tournament to be staged in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
