The Head of Enforcement and Intelligence Gathering Department of the Pharmacy Council of Ghana, Kofi Obeng Mensah, has successfully filed nomination to contest the upcoming parliamentary primary of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) in Abuakwa North Constituency.

He filed his nominations form Friday, January 31, 2020, at the Abuakwa North NPP Constituency Office in Akyem Kukurantumi, Eastern Region, amidst mammoth support by party faithful in the constituency.

Mr.Kofi Obeng Mensah, and two others, if cleared after vetting, will battle the incumbent Member of Parliament, Gifty Twum Ampofo who is a Deputy Minister of Education in Charge of TVET, seeking reelection for a second term.

Mr Kofi Obeng Mensah is a protege of family of great politicians including the renowned Ghanaian politician and Historian Prof. Albert Adu Boahene who was his grandfather, and the late former MP for the area Joseph Boakye Danquah, his nephew.

Addressing supporters of the party, he expressed optimism of winning the primaries but appealed to his supporters to campaign in decorum.

“ I have filed the nominations form which was picked on my behalf by my elders. Filing it today is confirmation of my readiness lead the party in this constituency and make them proud by winning this impending primary due to the believe they have in me. I will make my campaign message known to all after the vetting process.”

Mr Obeng Mensah shortly after filling the nomination form, donated a brand new tricycle also known as “pragyia” to the Constituency secretariat adding that “I am not done, more will follow, pickup vehicles and cars are also on the way. We need to resource the party to be able to work to maintain President Akufo Addo and NPP in power to continue the good policies including Free Senior High School because education is key to success”.

The constituency chairman Mr Douglas Kudjo Asare, who received the tricycle on behalf of the party acknowledged the importance of such logistics to the party’s agenda of maximizing votes in 2020 election to secure victory “four more for Nana”

He advised all the aspirants to embark on campaigns devoided of personal attacks and insinuations to ensure that the party comes out of the primaries slated on April 25,2020, more united for the task ahead.

Mr Kofi Obeng-Mensah is a pharmacist by profession. He is also a pastor at the Spirit Reign Chapel, Accra. Mr Obeng-Mensah is a proud old student of Pope John’s Senior High School and an Alumnus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The outpouring support for his decision to contest the Abuakwa North seat has been phenomenal. Eugine Osei Agyemang, one of the potential aspirants has rescinded his intention to contest throwing his weight for Mr.Obeng Mensah.
