Registration has officially opened for the 5th African Elders and Women Intercultural Dialogue (AEWID), set to take place in Accra, Ghana, from July 29 to August 1, 2025.
This year’s dialogue will focus on human trafficking and its underlying economic, cultural, social, and political factors under the theme: “BORN FREE – Exploring the Economic, Cultural, Social and Political Intricacies Sponsoring Human Trafficking in Today’s Africa.”
The three-day advocacy event, held in commemoration of the International Day for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, is free to attend. However, all interested participants are required to register online via www.aewid.aamn.africa.
The event will open at the British Council Auditorium with a Resource Mobilisation Masterclass and a One Youth One Digital Skill symposium at 10 am, followed by a free mental health therapy session at 11 am and a discourse with survivors of human trafficking at noon.
On Day 2, activities will move to the Silverbird Cinema, where participants will engage in presentations on human trafficking and migrant smuggling from 10 am, a screening of the biographical documentary No U-Turn on irregular migration at noon, and a panel discussion and light conversation session at 2 pm.
Day 3 will take place at the Afriexim Hall, Africa Trade House, featuring the main Africa Elders and Women Intercultural Dialogue at 9 am and the launch of Global Africans Against Slavery, a multi-sectoral coalition of stakeholders in the fight against human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
AEWID is an annual advocacy platform that promotes the cultural and social well-being of the African girl-child, women, and youth, aiming to address systemic issues inherited from colonial structures and to advocate transformative policies across the continent.

Previous editions have received institutional backing from the Vice Presidency of The Gambia and the First Lady of Sierra Leone.
