The Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reward former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s long-standing dedication and sacrifice to the party by electing him as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 election.
According to the former Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Dr. Bawumia has consistently placed the interests of the NPP above his personal and professional ambitions; a commitment he believes merits recognition.
Addressing delegates 9f the party in the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Jinapor said Dr Bawumia since making the decision to be the running of Nana Akuffo-Addo has never looked back when it comes to working for the NPP.
These sacrifices, he said, includes stepping away from a promising international career, to serve the party.
He recalled that during his time at the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Bawumia could have pursued lucrative opportunities abroad but instead resigned to fully dedicate himself to the NPP.
Jinapor further emphasized that Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated unwavering loyalty and commitment to the party over the years, even in the face of intense criticism and public attacks.
“Despite the level of vilification he has endured, Dr. Bawumia has remained disciplined, focused, and committed to the ideals of the party,” Mr. Jinapor said.
The Damongo MP urged them to critically assess Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities, including his vision, humility, unifying approach, and commitment to national development, and to rally behind him as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
