Week 3 of the Rugby League Federation Men’s 13’s Championship continued at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium, as the Nungua Tigers bounced back to secure their first win of the season, while the Dragons held the Bulls to a drawn game.
The Tigers displayed great attacking prowess and teamwork to thrash the Titans 82-0 last Sunday, marking the biggest win of the season so far. Andy Afotey Annang, Abdul Wahid, Tony Tawiah, Gideon Klugey, and Oliver Puman were the try scorers for the Tigers.
Kofi Montchon was tremendous with the boot, converting all tries to keep the scoreboard ticking.
After their loss to the Bulls in their opening match (32-26), the win now moves the Tigers to 4th on the league table, 3 points behind the defending champions, Bulls.
League debutants Dragons also held the Bulls to an exciting 24-24 draw in the second match.
The Dragons attacked well in the early minutes, taking the lead through a penalty kick from Innocent Alartey, followed by a try from David De-Souza, which was converted by Alartey. The Bulls responded just before halftime with a try from Desmond Geotrah, converted by Leslie Boadu, to make the scoreline 8-6 in favour of the Dragons.
The second half saw a fierce battle as both teams put up great performances in search of a win, but neither side had the edge over the other.
The Dragons now sit in 2nd position with the draw, just ahead of the Bulls, who are in 3rd place.
The Dragons will take on the Panthers on Matchday 4, while the Bulls will rest and prepare for Matchday 5.
