Leading member of the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has issued a passionate call to Ghanaian youth to rise up against poverty and poor leadership, declaring that anger is a just response to the country’s systemic challenges.
“I am angry at poverty,” he declared on Starr FM’s The Verdict show with Isaac Addae on Tuesday, July 22. “We’re poor because leadership is not helping; that’s why I’m angry. They need to help the poor; they need to liberate the masses from poverty.”
Owusu insisted that any young Ghanaian who isn’t outraged by the country’s governance and inequality is out of touch. “If you look at what is going on, and you look at our governance structure and you’re not angry as a youth, I don’t know when you’re going to be angry.”

His remarks formed part of a broader critique of Ghana’s political culture and a call for youth-led activism rooted in values, not blind loyalty. Owusu, a vocal supporter of Alan Kyerematen and the Movement for Change, reaffirmed his allegiance and announced that their political party would be launched soon.
“Alan Kyerematen was never voted [for], but I never regret following him. I still follow him. Let me announce that our party will be in place very soon.”
