The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced a significant update to its No-Fees-Stress application portal, now allowing students under the age of 18 to apply for loans for the first time.
This development addresses a long-standing challenge that prevented students below 18 from accessing student loans due to legal age restrictions associated with opening bank accounts in Ghana.

According to the SLTF, the updated portal now allows such applicants to proceed by selecting “No” when asked about bank account ownership and instead providing the names of their parents or guardians.
“We are working to facilitate greater access to financial support for all tertiary students to ensure they can pursue their academic dreams without the burden of fees,” said Dr Saajida Shiraz, CEO of the Students Loan Trust Fund.
The SLTF is encouraging all eligible students to take advantage of the update by logging into the portal and following the revised application process.
