Suame Pentecost launches ‘Agent of Peace Campaign’

The Suame Area of the Church of Pentecost in the Ashanti Region, has on Wednesday 21th October 2020 launched ‘Agent of Peace Campaign’ to preach peace ahead of the December 7 polls.

The official launching was held at the Church of Pentecost (Tetelestai Assembly) Suame in Kumasi.

This forms part of the Church’s contribution to the country in a bid to ensure that there is absolute peace and order before, during and after this year’s General election.

Speaking at the event, Apostle Collins Michael Asiedu-Area Head for the Suame Area, mentioned that the Church of Pentecost as an entity whose core mandate is to preach and also ensure that ‘God’s people’ are well counselled to desist from engaging in activities which are likely to trigger violence, have taken a giant step to champion the course of promoting a violence-free election and to also make the people understand the repercussions that awaits the good people of Ghana should there be chaos in the course of the polls.

He further noted that as a country with the majority of its populace as Christians should always do this in Godly manners to demonstrate the true picture of Christ-like life in the citizens of the country to keep enjoying God’s abundant grace and love in a peaceful environment.

Additionally, he indicated that the Church of Pentecost globally, throughout the month of October, as agents of Christ, will massively teach and encourage its members to promote peace within their environments as well as their work places for total peace to prevail
in the December 7 General elections.

The Suame Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Ose- Bobie Boaheng who was present at the event together with Suame Chief Iman, Shiekh- Abdul Mumin, lauded the initiative and called on all and sundry to devote themselves and join forces with the Church of Pentecost to greatly kick against all sort of ferociousness and embrace peace in this
year’s polls.

Below is Apostle Collins Michael Asiedu’s opening address at the
launch of the peace campaign:

On behalf of the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost Aps. Eric Nyamekye and the entire Suame Area Executive Committee Members as well as the Church of Pentecost Suame Area, I welcome you all to the Agent of Peace Campaign (APC) Launch. The APC is a special initiative of the Church of Pentecost and with the support from all para church and religious bodies with the aim of educating and challenging all well-meaning Ghanaians and Church of Pentecost members to be agents of peace in this election year. The church of Pentecost
with her prophetic voice seeks to reecho the clarion call of the Prophet Isaiah crying from the desert into the cities and towns of Ghana and in Suame enclave that make straight the way of the Lord by allowing the Prince of Peace to rule and reign not only in your hearts
but more importantly on your lips and actions before, during and after the general elections. It is true that we need peace in Ghana but mere wishing of peace devoid of a deliberate and continuously working at it would not bring the real peace we so badly need. No wonder John F. Kennedy a former President of the USA said “Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures”. We therefore need a concerted efforts of intentionality in our quest to maintain peace. In view of that Dalai Lama adds that “do not let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace”.

According to Lao Tzu “If you are depressed you are living in the past if you are anxious you are living in the future, if you are at peace, you are living in the present. Let’s seek to live in the present by maintaining our peace to draw vital lessons for the past and to build
a brighter life tomorrow. Jesus the prince of Peace made it emphatically clear in Matthew 5:9 that “Blessed are the peace makers for the shall be called the sons of God”. We have met here today as children of God who equally need his blessings hence our simple requirement is to become peacemakers. Let’s all stand for peace and bear in mind that an eye for an eye would make Ghana go blind. Always remember that Election is about ballot and not bullets. On this note I officially launch the Agent of Peace Campaign in the name of God the Father! Son and the Holy Spirit! Peace and Prosperity to Ghana before
the election, during the election and after the election in Jesus
name. Amen
