The Chief of Oyoko in the New Juaben Municipality and also a former Council of State Member, Nana Kodua Kesse II is rallying support for President Akufo Addo’s fight against corruption in the country.

According to Nana Kodua Kesse II, corruption has become a “monster” impeding the development of the country hence the need for all Ghanaians to support President Akufo Addo to eradicate the canker.

The immediate past Council of State Member opined that, the high level of corruption in the country could partly be attributed to the profligate spending during political campaigns and endorsements of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

“So now my appeal is that, we must all support President Nana Akufo Addo in his quest to eradicate corruption from the country, we should all support him, if you know of any corrupt activity in your area or office, you must come out for us to know the proper approach to solving that problem.”

He added “corruption has become a monster in our body politics, my observation is that there is something wrong with our constitution because during election, Politicians spend huge sums of money to campaign, if you want to be MP you need to spend lots of monies, even DCEs had to pay bribes before they are endorsed, all these things can be blamed on the our constitution.”

The Oyokohene added that corruption has even become endemic in the Chieftaincy institution leading to insecurity out of protracted Chieftaincy disputes.

“Now even in Chieftaincy, corruption has become pervasive as kingmakers take bribes from royals interested to be enstooled as chiefs under the pretext of installing them as chiefs creating lots of confusion.

“Rightful heirs who do not have money are denied the stool. Sometimes they take as high as Ghc30, 000 and above from each candidate without the knowledge of the Queenmother who has the customary right to appoint a Chief.”

The Oyokohene made the comments on Saturday when the traditional Council outdoored Nana Ankomah Serwaa Bonsu II, a 57-year-old Teacher of St. Patrice Basic School in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region as Queen mother for Oyoko traditional area and Adontenhemaa of New Juaben Traditional area.

The Newly outdoored Queenmother known in Private life as Beatrice Osei Bonsu better known as Madam B. assured to prioritize education and environmental issues in the traditional area.
