Three suspects believed to be part of a notorious robbery gang operating in parts of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region have been arrested.
The Ghana Police Service, in a post on X on Thursday, February 19, said the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation carried out on February 15, 2026, at Mangoase near Pokukrom, where officers raided several hideouts linked to the group.
The suspects were identified as Aziz Abubakar, also known as “Romeo”, Faraway Amari, and Patient Asare.

Police said items retrieved during the operation included a pump-action gun with ammunition, machetes, a bayonet, combat boots, a 9mm round, and GH¢20,000 believed to be proceeds from criminal activity.
According to the Police, preliminary investigations have also connected two of the suspects to the killing of three people at Breme near Bechem in the Bono Region in March 2025.
The Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest other accomplices and retrieve additional weapons.
