Member of Parliament for Wa West, Peter Lanchene Toobu, is urging the new leadership of the Ghana Police Service to adopt strategies that will effectively reset the country’s policing system.
This call comes in the wake of a massive overhaul of the service’s leadership by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohonu.
Speaking to Starr News, Mr. Toobu stated that implementing these reforms would result in a more effective and accountable police force.
“Today, we have a dedicated group of men and women assembled by the Inspector-General of Police, each assigned various roles to support his vision. The President has challenged him to push forward relentlessly, ensuring proper training, adequate equipment, and, as stipulated by the constitution, the welfare of the officers is well taken care of. If these objectives are met, the morale of the men and women in uniform will soar. When you serve as a police officer, the pride you feel when you see the flag of Ghana will inspire you to give your all, knowing that you are leaving behind a lasting legacy. A high morale will ensure that crime respects the force, reducing its prevalence and bringing peace and happiness to the Ghanaian people.”
“The expectations of the Ghanaian people are immense, but we believe that, as a united team, success is within reach.”
“To the new IGP, Christian Tetteh Yohonu, I encourage you to lead with your unique approach – do it the Yohonu way, and you will have our full support.”
