Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has assured that the challenges preventing the full operationalization of the Jamestown Fishing Harbour will be addressed to ensure the facility functions effectively.
The Jamestown Fishing Harbour, commissioned under the previous administration, has faced delays due to missing critical infrastructure necessary for its proper operation.
During a joint site inspection with officials from the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Minister Nikpe emphasized that the current government is committed to resolving these issues.
“The project is facing several challenges that are hampering its full operationalisation. We are committed to addressing these challenges so the harbour can operate efficiently,” Minister Nikpe stated.
Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, added that the government is determined to operationalize the harbour to strengthen Ghana’s fisheries sector and improve the livelihoods of coastal communities.
The inspection, they said underscores the government’s focus on improving infrastructure and support systems for key economic sectors, including fisheries.
