Two persons have died, while five others sustained injuries in a gory road traffic accident at Third Ridge Junction on the Accra–Cape Coast Highway.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at about 7:00 a.m.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service at the Cape Coast Regional Headquarters responded swiftly to a distress call.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the crash involved a Toyota Corolla with registration number GW-5769-16 and a HOWO tipper truck with registration number GN-1497-22.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, who was trapped behind the steering wheel, was extricated by fire officers but was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the Toyota Corolla was travelling from Cape Coast towards Accra when the driver noticed a pick-up vehicle dangerously overtaking and attempting to move into the lane of the oncoming HOWO tipper truck.
In response, the Corolla driver slowed down.

The tipper truck, which was travelling in the opposite direction, reportedly veered into the outer lane to avoid the overtaking pick-up.
However, in an attempt to return to its lane, the driver lost control and crashed into the Toyota Corolla.
The Regional Commander, ACFO Merinder Mary Attigah-Mensah, was at the scene and advised motorists to exercise caution and patience on the road.

All casualties were conveyed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment and further management.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
