Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Yohunu has confirmed the arrest of two additional suspects linked to the high-profile Adabraka gold robbery, following a dawn operation in Ashaiman. During the arrests, police recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and other exhibits.
Speaking at the opening of the 2025 Wassa Regional Police Conference, IGP Yohunu said the Ghana Police Service has been pursuing the gang responsible for a daring daylight heist at a jewellery shop in Adabraka Market, Accra, on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
The robbery involved four heavily armed and masked men who targeted a man in a red Toyota Corolla near the busy market.
During the incident, witnesses reported that the robbers fired multiple shots into the air, forcing shoppers and traders to seek cover before forcibly seizing large sacks of cash and fleeing in a getaway vehicle.
Residents of Adabraka have called on the Ghana Police Service to maintain a strong presence in the area to prevent similar attacks and ensure public safety.
IGP Yohunu assured that the police remain committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice and strengthening security in high-risk areas.
