The Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) has marked its 14th edition of the National Competition with a powerful call to action: invest in tools that shape not only young minds but future leaders.
Addressing the media during the competition, on August 9, 2025, at Pentecost Convention Centre, Kasoa, in the Central Region, UCMAS Managing Director Girish Gurbani urged parents and educators to prioritise programmes that build intellectual and emotional resilience in children.
“This initiative is more than an academic tool, it’s a visionary platform that equips students with the problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, and creativity needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world,” Gurbani stated.

Held under the theme, “UCMAS: A Requisite Medium for Training 21st Century Students to Solve Global Challenges,” the competition brought together over 140 schools from across the country. Winners were honoured with branded UCMAS trophies, celebrating their achievements in mental arithmetic and cognitive excellence.
The Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) hosted it 14th Inter-Schools competition with 3,000 pupils from Basic Schools all over Ghana displaying dexterity in mental arithmetic.

Managing Director of Maurya education UCMAS Ghana, Girish Gurbani, also disclosed that the competition in the coming years will include government schools and also introduce a new National League, where children will compete to take the champion.
